Wedding Receptions
I was invited to paint at this intimate wedding at the beach-side Horned Dorset Primavera resort in Rincon, Puerto Rico. This was a truly beautiful spot to get married and I wanted to capture every magnificent detail of the landscape, from the historic colonial architecture of the resort and restaurant where the indoor ceremony took place, to the outdoor courtyard with lush vegetation and orchid bouquets illuminated by hanging lanterns, to the view of the ocean in the distance, framed by stately arches and the wedding chuppah. The couple's simple request was to capture their first tango dance during the party outside. I also included several key family members, including parents on either side of the bride and groom, and the groom's brother, who gave the painting as a gift to the newlyweds.
I spent most of the afternoon/evening painting the background, then added the guests when the party began late in the evening. I completed final touches very early the next morning, and presented the final painting to enthusiastic wedding guests at breakfast.
